Lights, camera, action! Woodside’s Bengaluru office officially opens
Woodside’s Bengaluru office officially opened its doors to the world in September, with a joyful celebration of local culture that demonstrated our eleventh overseas office will be a welcoming place for staff and visitors alike.
The turnout of our senior leaders, government officials and our industry partners illustrated the strategic importance of the new office in India and the important role it is destined to play in supporting our global business. His Excellency Philip Green OAM, Australia’s High Commissioner to India, was a notable VIP.
EVP and CFO Graham Tiver and SVP Human Resources Ruth Lyall were among the Woodsiders who greeted representatives of the governments of Australia and Karnataka, the southern Indian State of which Bengaluru is the capital.
Bengaluru is a hub of innovation and IT – a fact Graham promptly acknowledged in his remarks.
We are investing in a location that is helping shape the future of global business, and we are building capability in Bengaluru that will support our work around the world,” Graham noted.
Other speakers highlighted the strong and deepening relationship between Australia and India, the exceptional talent available in Bengaluru, and the opportunities that arise from bringing diverse teams together across borders.
The new centre will complement the expertise Woodside already has in Perth and Houston
The opening ceremony included the tradition of lighting of a ceremonial lamp, symbolising new beginnings, shared aspirations and a bright future. Dignitaries and Woodside’s senior leaders conducted that ceremony.
Then came the inauguration of the office and unveiling of a commemorative plaque to mark the official opening of Woodside’s Bengaluru office.
And there was certainly energy in the office.
Local acappella group Voctronica delivered a brilliant medley of contemporary hits and regional classics which won over the audience and created an electric atmosphere.
The colour, warmth, music and sense of community showcased both the vibrancy of Indian culture and the remarkable energy of the people who live and work there. Their hospitality, dynamism and optimism are qualities quickly becoming the hallmark of the Woodside team in Bengaluru.
It was also a timely reminder that buildings do not create success – people do.
The passion, enthusiasm and commitment on display demonstrated why Woodside has chosen India for our new centre. And it’s why the future, as the Bengaluru office grows its capabilities and contributions to Woodside’s business, is so exciting.
