Indigenous Australian development
Woodside Energy is steadfast in its commitment to developing Indigenous talent through a range of initiatives, including on-country immersions, classroom programs and participation in national conferences. These opportunities are shared across our corporate and frontline operations, ensuring a comprehensive approach to talent development. As part of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation in action and strengthening Indigenous leadership, Woodside partners with the Cape York Institute for Policy & Leadership (CYIPL) to deliver the Indigenous Leadership Development Program (ILDP). Building on a long-standing relationship through Jawun, this partnership focuses on empowering Indigenous leaders.
The Indigenous Leadership Development Program is more than just a series of activities—it is a personal growth journey. This journey begins with reflection – understanding how culture, accountability and connection have been carried forward in our regions. Participants are invited to explore their leadership identity, guided by Indigenous leaders and grounded in the strength of community and culture. Reflecting on the second year of delivery of the ILDP, we have seen Aboriginal and Torres Strait leaders share stories, face challenges, and discover new depths of confidence and purpose. Together, they are shaping a future for themselves, their families, and this Country—a future where leadership is both culturally grounded and forward-looking, led by strong, proud Indigenous voices.
Our participation in the Institute’s International Women’s Day event, including the on-country cultural immersion, highlights support for women and reinforces our shared commitment to cultural learning, leadership development, and Indigenous Australian empowerment.
For the fourth consecutive year, Woodside has offered Indigenous Australian employees the opportunity to participate in the Australian Graduate School of Management’s (AGSM) Executive Indigenous Leaders Program. This program aims to develop senior Indigenous Australian business leaders. In 2025, over 60 participants from various organisations completed the program, which blends Western leadership approaches with Indigenous cultural perspectives. The program includes a final project that addresses strategic challenges through an Indigenous lens. Participants receive the AGSM Certificate in Executive Management and Development, providing credits towards further studies.
