Woodside X LSU: a historic partnership built on legacy

Woodside’s traditional red is now joined by purple and gold, thanks to the company’s first-of-its-kind, multi-year partnership announced this month with Louisiana State University (LSU) Athletics.

As the Official Legacy Partner of LSU Athletics and the jersey patch sponsor, we’re bringing athletic excellence with meaningful community impact together.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 athletic season, the Woodside Energy logo will appear on the competition apparel of all 21 LSU varsity men’s and women’s sports.

“Being the first jersey patch partner in collegiate sports can only be summarised in one word: epic,” Woodside Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer International Daniel Kalms enthused.

Investing in Louisiana, on and off the field

Woodside has operated offshore Louisiana for more than 16 years and in the last few years, has significantly expanded its presence in the state.

In 2025, Woodside announced a US$17.5 billion final investment decision on its Louisiana LNG project – one of the largest foreign investments in Louisiana’s history. This long-term presence and investment now extends to Louisiana’s flagship university.

The Louisiana LNG project team is just as excited about the partnership, including Jake Alford, Environment Manager and proud LSU alumnus.

“The collaboration strengthens our business, deepens our local presence, and generates meaningful outcomes for the communities where we operate,” said Jake.

“Our alignment with LSU is a source of personal pride and speaks to the purpose behind our work and commitment to Louisiana.”

Woodside’s presence in Louisiana is about showing up for the places and people who make this work possible.

From the local team building Louisiana LNG to the communities that surround it, Woodside is focused on being part of the fabric of the state – investing locally, creating opportunities and contributing to making a lasting impact.

In the coming months, Woodside and LSU will develop community programs that aim to meet the needs of Louisianans and reflect the authenticity of the state and its people.
