Karratha high school graduate lands Woodside University Scholarship

A Pilbara high school graduate will have her university fees covered by Woodside, after landing a Woodside Scholarship Program (WSP).

Woodside offers scholarships for people studying degrees which align with our company’s future growth and to develop career paths for our community.

This year, former Saint Luke’s College Karratha student Lily Bertolini was awarded the scholarship.

Lily is studying a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in accounting and taxation at Curtin University in Perth.

"I was in shock. It is the biggest financial relief for me. I worked as much as I could before I left school in Karratha to save money and this eases so much stress about purchasing textbooks and paying rent and so many things. It's an absolute honour,” said Lily.

During Lily’s uni breaks, she will be offered the opportunity of valuable work experience at our head office in Perth and the possibility of early access into Woodside’s graduate programs.

Lily, who had been a Karratha girl since she was 8, learnt about the WSP after attending the Careers Expo in Karratha.

"It really opened my eyes to see how much of a benefit, companies like Woodside are to our community." said Lily.

HR Business Partner, Lesley-Anne Hayes said Woodside is always keen to recognise and award Pilbara graduates.

"Lily fit the eligibility of the Woodside Scholarship Program (WSP). She is studying a degree that was in line with our future growth in Graduates in Woodside Energy and the WSP is designed to build on our student programs and our company’s commitment in the communities in which we operate.” said Lesley-Anne.
